The New York Mets defeated the Atlanta Braves 6-0 this afternoon at Citi Field on Opening Day!
Noah Syndergaard was terrific tossing six shutout innings. He struck out seven allowing just five hits before leaving with a blister which will force his next start to be pushed back a day. Mets manager Terry Collins informed the reporters that Syndergaard would pitch on Sunday as opposed to his scheduled start on Saturday.
The Mets offense was dormant for six innings, but broke the game open with a thunderous six run seventh thanks to an RBI single from Asdrubal Cabrera and a huge 3-run double from first baseman Lucas Duda.
Hansel Robles, Fernando Salas, and Robert Gsellman would handle the seventh, eighth, and ninth to give the Mets a 1-0 record to start the 2017 season.
