Marlins Homer Twice Late to Top Mets 5-4

The Mets dropped a tough tonight in Miami as the Marlins rallied late to defeat them 5-4 tonight at Marlins Park.

The Mets got out to an early lead when Neil Walker drove in Asdrubal Cabrera in the top of the first with an RBI double. The Marlins would bounce right back with back to back home runs from Justin Bour and Marcel Ozuna in the bottom of the second to take a 2-1 lead. In the top of the seventh the Mets would retake the lead when Curtis Granderson hit an RBI triple and then scored on a Michael Conforto sac fly.

In the top of the eighth, Asdrubal Cabrera made it 4-2 when he hit a solo home run, but it would not be enough for the Mets bullpen. Fernando Salas would replace Jacob deGrom to pitch the bottom of the eighth and surrender a 2-run home run to Christian Yelich that tied it and a solo home run to Giancarlo Stanton which gave the Marlins the lead and ultimately the win.

The Mets will play for a split of this four-game series tomorrow afternoon as Matt Harvey will take the hill. 'Mets on Deck' kicks off coverage on WOR at 12:05 pm.
