LISTEN: Jay Bruce Homers Twice, Drives in All 5 Runs in Mets 5-4 Win over Philly

The Mets got back on the winning side tonight snapping a four-game losing streak with a 5-4 win over the Phillies at Citi Field.

The Mets bats struggled through most of the game, but two timely home runs from Jay Bruce propelled the Mets to a win. Trailing 2-0 in the sixth, Bruce smacked a 3-run blast to put the Mets ahead 3-2. Jerry Blevins would not be able to hold the Mets lead in the top of the eighth when he came on to relieve Robert Gsellman with a runner on second. Michael Saunders would tie the game with a bloop single which prevented Gsellman from getting the win.

In the bottom of the eighth, Yoenis Cespedes would lead off with a single and then Jay Bruce teed off again for the second time of the game. Bruce's 2-run home run gave the Mets a 5-3 lead and Addison Reed would pitch the ninth and pick up his fourth save of the season despite allowing a run in the frame.

The Mets will look to make it two in a row and take the series from the Phillies on Thursday evening; Coverage on WOR begins at 6:05 pm with Pete McCarthy & 'Mets on Deck'.
