Gio Gonzalez Quiets Mets Hitters in 3-1 Nationals Win; Mets Drop 7 of 8

For the seventh time in eight games the Mets fell to a NL East opponent as they lost the second game of a three-game set to the Nationals 3-1 this afternoon at Citi Field.

Jacob deGrom looked sharp early, but took the loss after pushing his start back to today with a stiff neck. He struck out ten over five and two-thirds innings allowing three runs on eight hits. Gio Gonzalez was terrific for the Nationals. He didn't allow a Mets hit until the sixth. He got the win striking out six over six and a third while allowing just one run on two hits.

The Mets fall to (8-10) and the Nationals improved to (12-5) on this young season. The Mets will throw Zack Wheeler tomorrow who will face Max Scherzer at 8:08 pm on Sunday Night Baseball. 'Mets on Deck' kicks off coverage with Pete McCarthy at 7:05 om on 710 WOR.
