The Washington Nationals came into Citi Field and swept a beleaguered Mets team capping it off with a 6-3 win tonight.
Former Met turned nemesis, Daniel Murphy, hit a grand slam in the top of the first and the Nationals never looked back. The Mets would battle to keep things close as Michael Conforto hit a home run off Max Scherzer and then scored when Neil Walker belted a 2-run shot to cut the Nats lead to 4-3. In the top of the eighth, the Nationals would pad their league when Ryan Zimmerman homered off Josh Smoker to give the Mets a 6-3 lead.
The Mets will take Monday off before returning to Citi Field on Tuesday to begin a three-game set with Atlanta. The Mets will look to snap their four-game losing streak and win just their second game in ten tries. Coverage on Tuesday begins at 6:05 pm with Pete McCarthy and 'Mets on Deck.
