The New York Mets scored 16 runs on 20 hits tonight as they crushed the Braves 16-5 in Atlanta.
Jacob deGrom did not have his best stuff but he picked up the win as the offense had his back. deGrom's three-game double-digit strikeout streak came to an end as he managed to strike out just five while allowing five runs in eight his over five innings. He also walked five.
The Mets got off to a hot start scoring two in the first, then three in the third before opening the game up with four runs in the fifth and seven in the eighth. Jose Reyes drove in five runs on two hits, Rene Rivera went three for five with three RBI's and even Jacob deGrom drove in a pair to help his own cause.
The Mets will look to take the series 3-1 with a win tomorrow evening in the series finale. Zack Wheeler will make the start for the Mets. Coverage on WOR begins at 6:05 pm with Pete McCarthy & 'Mets on Deck'.
