Noah Syndergaard returned to the mound for the first time since May and led the Mets to a 4-2 victory over the Nationals Friday night at Citi Field.
Syndergaard was limited to just 75 pitches but made the most of it throwing 5 innings allowing just 1 run and striking out 3. He also earned his 5th win of the season and drove in a run at the plate as his single in the 2nd inning brought home Amed Rosario. That was the last run the Mets would score tonight as they put up 3 in the first inning fueled by RBI singles from Jose Bautista and Devin Mesoraco.
Seth Lugo and Robert Gsellman each pitched 2 innings to close the door on a 4-2 Mets win. Game 3 of the series will be tomorrow night at 4:10. Mets on Deck with Pete McCarthy begins at 3:05.
