As I predicted this ridiculous tax on soda and other sugary drinks is causing more harm than good.
The proponents of the “nanny state” in Philadelphia placed this big tax on soda as a way get revenue and keep residents from becoming obese.
I don’t know if the residents there have lost any weight but a group called The Tax Foundation released a new study showing the one and a-half cent per ounce tax has fallen short of revenue projections. It's also cost jobs and even forced some Philadelphians to leave the city to buy groceries.
According to the study, purchases of beer are also less expensive than non-alcoholic beverages subject to the Philadelphia soda pop tax.
