Here we go again. They are raising fears about a possible government shutdown as a spending deadline looms.
The government runs out of money late Friday night. Maine independent Senator Angus King says that nobody wants a shutdown but he is warning that misunderstandings over some key budget issues could prompt a shutdown.
On ABC's "This Week" yesterday, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said there will not be a government shutdown. Some think that lawmakers may approve a two-week spending extension to December 22nd, three days before Christmas.
My long time listeners know what I think should be done; zero-based budgeting. We should bring all line items down to zero and then build from there. There is so much waste in government, zero-based budgeting is one way of cutting some of that waste.
