(Poughkeepsie, NY) -- If you listen to me on the air, for years I have been describing how New York State is in an economic death spiral. So it should not come as a surprise to you that New York has been rated the worst state in the country for retirees.
A new Bankrate.com study lists the best and worst places in the country to retire. Bankrate looked at several factors in ranking the states. Those include the cost of living, crime rates, health care quality, taxes, weather, cultural vitality and well-being. New York was rated the worse.
Meanwhile, South Dakota is at the top of the list, followed by Utah, Idaho, New Hampshire and Florida.
