It was about 18 months ago that I interviewed Roger Stone on WKIP. That was shortly after the probe by Special Counsel Robert Mueller began. At the time he openly talked about the ongoing investigation and how he had nothing to fear because he didn’t do anything wrong. This morning we got the word that Stone, a former Trump campaign adviser, was arrested and is accused of: obstructing an official proceeding, making false statements and witness tampering. The charges were submitted by the federal grand jury that is working with Special Counsel Mueller.
I haven’t seen the evidence, but my belief is that Stone was targeted because he made himself a target by continually defending the President while saying that he, Stone, had done nothing wrong. That presented a challenge to Mueller and his team and they figure that if they pressure Stone enough they will come up with something.
